Island Style
Inspired by the architecture of St Augustine and the Caribbean, this design was developed for a couple on a lake in Winter Park. West Indies and Dutch colonial homes were often built on tight lots and narrow streets. The entry courtyard and parapet gable roofs were common among these styles.
This home features concrete block walls on both levels. If you look carefully you can see how the weight of the structure is carried down through the first level.
The great room plan features an open kitchen and family dining area plus a multi-purpose room that can be used for formal dining or a study. There are secret doors in the kitchen to enter the pantry and access the formal dining room.
There's a guest suite along with the master bedroom on the first floor with versions for two or three secondary bedrooms upstairs.
The split car side entry garage allows a separate space for adult toys or a special car and a family and friends entry into the home. Outdoor living space is enhanced by folding doors and a folding pass through window combo. We have several designs that are similar to this and can be expanded into a sports bar porch.
