On The Boards is an old saying that referred to in-progress designs because they were still on the drafting board. I still sketch some with a pencil but everything eventually ends up in my 3D modeling software.
BoHo Beach Home
This view-oriented design features main living spaces on the 2nd level and a private owners’ suite at the top. Four bedrooms and a bunk room plus five and a half baths are arranged to create flexible zones for a variety of family members and guests. The first level has an indoor-outdoor room that’s ideal for relaxing or entertaining a rowdy group returning from a day at the beach. Up top there’s a rooftop terrace with a hot tub and fire pit.
Modern Lakefront Retreat
Designed for a challenging lakefront property, this small home has some big features. The main living spaces are on the 2nd level with lots of glass facing the lake. Even though the home is designed for two people, they have a large group of family and friends that they like to entertain. Although this version shows the master suite on the 2nd level, it’s probably going to move to the 3rd level along with the addition of an elevator. Also note that the lower level is all garage and workshop space. Since it’s below the floodplain elevation, everything will be built up off the floor.
Savannah Golf Home
This large home on a golf course in the Savannah, Georgia area, is being designed for a multi-generational family. They expect lots of family and friends to visit and want to make sure there’s plenty of space. They also requested a complete outdoor kitchen in order to keep cooking smells out of the house. This creates a great opportunity for one of my favorite spaces I call a Sports Bar. I can certainly imagine hanging out there on game day even though they are Bulldogs fans.
